Formerly located on the 42nd floor of the Sompo Nippon Koa skyscraper, the museum moved in May 2020 to a brand new building on the same site. It is known throughout the world for Van Gogh's famous painting, Sunflowers, purchased in 1987 for 300 million francs (about 45 million euros). While other works by Western artists such as Cézanne are also part of the collection, the main part is made up of works by the painter Seiji Tōgō (1897-1978), who particularly liked to depict femininity.
