The Reitaisai festival, which takes place at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, includes various ceremonies to honor deities. The annual celebrations at this shrine last for three days. On September 14, they open with a purification ceremony by the sea. Visitors flock to enjoy the procession on September 15 and the yabusame festival the next day, a ritual in which archers on horseback shoot at targets. It ends with the release of Japanese crickets in the shrine.
