One must first cross the railway in the direction of Kita-Kamakura eki to reach this temple founded in 1283 by Hōjō Morotoki, who placed him under the tutelage of the Chinese priest Funei. The temple was considered one of the most beautiful of Kamakura. Unfortunately, it was badly damaged during the 1923 earthquake. It housed a statue of Jizō, which can now be seen at the Musée Museum of Fine Arts.
