This villa was presented to the imperial family in 1872. It actually comes from the feudal residence in Edo, where it was dismantled and rebuilt in 1898 in Nikko as the Villa Tamozawa. It comprises 106 rooms, 23 of which are occupied by the imperial family, the others by servants. It was enlarged several times, and features a variety of architectural styles. A beautiful garden, with a four-hundred-year-old cherry tree, completes the visit.
