TANI HOUSE
Small wooden and bamboo ryokan, located near the Daitoku-ji complex in the north of the city, offering cosy accommodation
Close to the Daitoku-ji complex north of the city, this tiny wooden and bamboo ryokan is very popular with travelers. Prices are among the lowest in Kyoto and Mrs. Tani, who runs the place, speaks English. It's a bit like going back on holiday to a Japanese grandmother's house. The comfort is basic and the place is a bit cramped but the atmosphere is authentic and Mrs. Tani prepares a good breakfast. A good address for single travellers who want to save on accommodation.
