KOBO-SAN MARKET
On the 21st of each month, the anniversary of the death of the founder of the Tō-ji temple, the temple entrance is packed with people in an unlikely jumble of stalls mixing traditional Japanese products and foodstuffs. The market is well known and even attracts people from Tokyo who come here to pick up typical Kyoto kimonos. It's a well-known market for antiques, and if you're interested in them, you'll need to come early. But you'll also love wandering around, sushi in hand and a shopping bag full of souvenirs. Very pleasant.
