Japan's oldest Kabuki theater has been staging performances of this Japanese dramatic art for 400 years. Performances take place all year round, but the Kaomise festival, featuring leading Kabuki actors, is held from December1 to 25. This is the city's busiest venue for such shows. Audio-guides are available in English, so you don't miss a thing. The current building dates back to 1929 and has undergone numerous renovations. It was last reopened in 2018.
