CASA DE TOMÁS TORIBIO
Welcome to the former home of Tomás Toribo, the city's very first architect, who designed some of the city's fortifications in the early 19th century and the city's irrigation system (dating from 1802). He also designed the plans for the Cabildo and the façade of the Iglesia Matriz. His work was rewarded by the governor, who gave the architect a piece of land on which he could build his house. The only constraint was to respect the public spring that flowed there and to allow access to it. He did this in a very ingenious way, which is what makes the house so original. A covered passage to the fountain supports two floors. The remarkable wrought-iron balconies on the façade can be admired.
