Designed by the architect Luis Mazzini, this square is the only public square in Nueva Helvecia. In the center of the square is the monument El Surco (The Furrow), created in 1944 by the Italian sculptor Arístides Bassi in honor of the founding settlers and a reminder of the colony's agricultural origins. It is quite refreshing to see a different hero from those found on 99% of the statues in the country, namely the liberators. Finally, this is where the National Chocolate Festival is held each year in July.
