Portuguese construction dating from 1720, rebuilt in neoclassical style in 1840, still in excellent condition. You can see the very large stones used in its construction. The museum comprises two buildings, originally a residence, then a business before becoming a museum. The house was once occupied by Juan del Águila, a Spanish general. The museum houses a collection of pieces, objects and works relating to the city's colonial era. Highlights include paintings by the famous painter Carlos Páez Vilaró.
