This emblematic cobbled street dates from the first half of the 18th century. It used to be called Calle Ansina and was smaller and narrower. According to some, its current name, rue des Soupirs, comes from the fact that there used to be a brothel on the street... According to other people, it was named after the slaves, who were punished and tied up at the end of the street near the river, and who were lamenting. You will see houses with colourful facades aged by time. Several films were shot there.
