Originally built, like the rest of the village, from mud bricks and straw, this temple was rebuilt in 1830 on the initiative of the inhabitants. Its reconstruction was initiated by Father Sancho, who had materials transported from the old temple of Las Viboras, which was located in the Calera de las Huérfanas. The work was completed in April 1848. In the church you can admire valuable objects and works of art, such as El sueño de San José, a painting by Juan Manuel Blanes, and a sculpture by José L. Zorilla de San Martin representing José Sancho.
