Erected in 1841 to protect Uruguay from a possible Brazilian invasion, this military installation was equipped with cannons, barracks and underground tunnels and was strategically located near a large canyon that kept watch over the approach of enemy ships during the Guerra Grande. It was declared a historical monument in 1976. Visitors can explore its various buildings and enjoy the panoramic view from the ramparts. A path from the beach leads to the top of a hill where there is a beautiful botanical garden.

jolie batiment militaire situé au milieu de la ville. A voir si vous passez par ici mais ne présnet pas un caractére révolutionnaire
