Declared a national historic monument, this theater was built between 1910 and 1912 on the initiative of the landowner Miguel Young and inaugurated in 1913. The city bought it in 1930. Its stage hosts plays, operas, ballets and comedies. It was here that the famous poet Juan Zorilla de San Martin recited his Leyenda Patria for the last time. Note the eclectic style of the building, its refined ornaments, its laminated moldings of pure gold and its facade decorated with sculptures alluding to music and poetry.
