We have lived in Uruguay for 4 years and the estancias, we has some: "touristicas", simple, the luxurious ones...
However arriving at Panagea, we finally met the most authentic estancia of the country. We return regularly and we never get bored. Even our two boys, aged 10 and 13 years, sometimes only will spend a few days holiday Panagea!
For four generations, the family Juan Manuel dedicates itself to the cattle and sheep. Juan Manuel, running rather little here lives in its estancia (and not in a luxurious house Montevideo) all year round with his wife and two lovely girls. Juan Manuel is veterinary surgeon training and it has managed to make us shares his passion for animals. Quickly and most naturally from all over the world, he learned to saddle our shrine and enjoy a horse, even at my loved one, more on motorbikes...
Consequently, we could get the most 1000 acres of the estancia and overlap free in the heart of the only Uruguyan hills, really unexpected landscape in this flat country. Here, no noise disturbs the spirit.
In Panagea, as we arrived, we were received including friendly real and friends, we can take part in the activities of the house. Panagea is a guest house and receives only a small number of people. For this reason, you feel welcomed and at home from the first minutes.
The food is a clever mix Uruguyan typical dishes and Western flavours, even Asian. Indeed, Suzanne is original Swiss and Juan Manuel, they travelled many times to Asia (Nepal in vietnam). In addition to that is an added value with their meeting!
The service is free. All day tasty "a snack at our remains in the dining room ancient house and all the drinks are included and will (which is exceptional in Uruguay...). We can then enjoy jams houses and local specialities (cheese, sushi in syrup, fruit pasta, honey...) accompanied by a fabulous bread "casero" (homemade).
Pas de electric cables in the heart of nature. Here, electricity, recently, wind and solar origin.
The day, we do not have time to get bored us. In the morning, we saddle our horses and discover the work of gaucho accompanied by the faithful dogs herd. It is a real pleasure because throughout the year, work varies: shearing sheep, taming the horses, porta to the cows and their veal... The estancia has about 1000 2000 cows, sheep and a hundred horses. Needless to say that the activities do not miss. Time and life are punctuated by nature and animals.
It is without mentioning the huge range of wild animals that you meet little: rheas dozens, armadillos, the entire colonies of birds that vary during seasons (pito-pito, ibis partridges, egrets...). However, we are never obstructed by mosquitoes with Panagea because a friendly bat nourishes itself their larva.
Here we do not look for luxury, state-of-the-art comfort, internet connection, heated pool, meetings VIP, the machines engines...
In Panagea, it is to share the simple happiness happy family that welcomes you like friends. It is the tranquillity, silence, the time that is another dimension.

Magic moments:
. to attend a moon rising from the "meseta", this rocky formation, crater of an old volcano and located on the back of the house;
. to share a drink from Tanat, local grape variety, around the "fogon" with visitors from all corners of the world;
. in the evening, tasty grilled meat, comfortably installed under the high wind house;
. take a nap in one of the hammocks arranged under the large lime trees in the garden;
. to view one of the many classic movies, including many in French, who has the impressive video library Juan Manuel, real enthusiasts the 7th art;
. to see a good novel multilingual library, sitting by the fire antique remains;
. a swim in the pretty stream close after a day to cavalcade;
. wander and visit this former countryside, a sort of caravanserai, now abandoned, near the property;
. photograph hundreds of animal species while enjoying a light and colours exceptional;
. to discover the rare primary forest still exist here;
