Inaugurated in 1985, the Geoscience Museum is located in front of Plaza 19 de Abril. It exhibits paleontological and geological pieces found in the north of the country: fossils, remains of dinosaurs dating back more than 150 million years, precious and semi-precious stones, giant mollusks from the Jurassic period, replicas of animals and skeletons... A must-see is the skull of a giant prehistoric sloth that weighed almost 1,500 kg. The exhibition itself may seem old-fashioned, but its content is extremely fascinating.
