The very first hydroelectric dam in South America was put into operation in 1882, but its production ceased in 1918 after the death of the technician responsible for its operation. The main workers who worked on its construction and maintenance were Italian, Portuguese and Spanish immigrants. Although the site is now in ruins, it remains an important part of our historical and cultural heritage. It is recommended to visit it with a guide.
