This is one of the most important religious celebrations in the country and has been held every April 19 since 1902. On this occasion, thousands of pilgrims go to Cerro Verdun, a few minutes drive from Minas (department of Lavalleja) to pay homage, bring offerings and pray to the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception (Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción) during the 3 masses of the day. After a 360 meter hike, the statue is reached at the top of the hill.
