The Canario Group actually owns two hotels in the El Condado neighborhood, each with 25 rooms. The clean, no-frills Canario boutique-hotel at 1317 Ashford Avenue (canarioboutiquehotel.com) is less satisfying to travelers in general. Well located, a minute's walk from the beach, it's still less well kept and less appealing than the slightly more upscale Canario by the Lagoon. In the neighborhood, El Canario is the poor relation, but remains an economical solution.
