This old theater was named after the Puerto Rican poet and playwright Alejandro Tapia. If you had to choose a theater in the capital to see a play, an opera or a ballet, this would be it. Opened in 1832, Teatro Tapia is one of the oldest theaters in operation in the United States today. It can accommodate up to 640 people. Its neoclassical facade, with arches and pilasters painted in white and Naples yellow, contrasts with the sky-blue structure of the Casino Antiguo, just across the street in Plaza Colón.
