In this very small square there is a sculpture representing a religious procession of women. It was inaugurated in 1971, in memory of a historical episode that occurred in this place in 1797. At that time, an English ship led by Sir Ralph Abercrombie entered San Juan Bay and took control of Puerto Rico. Legend has it that when Sir Ralph Abercrombie saw hundreds of lighted torches carried by an armada of women, he believed that troops had arrived to reinforce the island and left the Puerto Rican coast.
