It is one of the most beautiful buildings in Old San Juan. Built in 1840, it has been used for a long time as a shelter for the poor. It was designed for this purpose. Since then, the Puerto Rican Cultural Institute has restored it and installed its offices there to ensure the programming of cultural events on the island. The building is surrounded by a beautiful green square. A permanent collection of objects that belonged to the Taino Indians is open to the public.
