Launched in 2008, the Quenepa Festival is a cultural festival that celebrates the genipa, the official fruit of the city of Ponce. The festivities last for three days in the form of a market and take place in the Plaza Las Delicias. The festival is sponsored by the Oficina de Desarrollo Cultural, the city's cultural development office. Four varieties of genipa are grown in Puerto Rico, one of which is named Ponce, commonly grown in the backyards of its residents.
