CASA DEL REY
The Casa del Rey (King's House) is a listed national monument and was once home to the military staff of the Spanish governor. It is the oldest building in the city of Dorado (1823). In 1848, the residence was bought and transformed in its structure. In 1871, the Casa del Rey became the home of Manuel Alonso y Pacheco, a famous Puerto Rican writer. It was later restored by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture to become a museum. Exhibits relate the history of Puerto Rico, the Taino culture and the Spanish colonization.
