Garden featuring a collection of plant species from all over the world, with a wide variety of trees, plants, flowers and palms.

A true treasure of the Côte d'Azur, this exceptional botanical garden is home to an impressive collection of plant species from all over the world, offering a unique experience in the discovery of biodiversity. Currently managed by the French National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA), it was created in 1865 by botanist Gustave Thuret. Seduced by the climate and wild nature of the Cape, he bought a 5-hectare plot of land on which to study the acclimatization of exotic plants. The result is a wide variety of trees, plants, flowers and palms carefully organized in different thematic areas. This botanical paradise has lost nothing of its main mission, with collections of trees and shrubs (1,600 species) being tested for their adaptation to Mediterranean conditions.

The Villa Thuret at the heart of the garden is a perfect example of neo-classical architecture, and today houses the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD). It plays an important role in scientific research and the preservation of biodiversity through the conservation and study of Mediterranean flora and exotic species.

Visitors can explore the garden by strolling freely through its shady paths, or by taking one of the guided tours to learn more about the history and characteristics of the different plants. An ideal place for nature lovers!

Important information, this botanical garden is closed the week - ends and holidays since it is a centre INRA
