Discovery Concession National Historic Site with gold found during a stream excavation.
It was here in Bonanza Creek National Historic Site that it all began on August 17, 1896. Based on a good tip from old Scottish prospector Bob Henderson, George Carmack set out to search the stream with his fishing partners Skookum Jim and Tagish Charlie. They found the gold they were looking for and the place was named Discovery Claim. The news spread and a few months later thousands of prospectors landed in the Klondike.
