ALUTIIQ MUSEUM AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL REPOSITORY
Museum exposing the vestiges of the Aleut civilization, first inhabitants of Kodiak Island.
The Aleuts, first inhabitants of this part of Alaska, lived here in great numbers. Archaeological excavations have brought to light vestiges of this civilization. A laboratory within the museum is in charge of restoring them and exhibiting them in the rooms. One discovers there, in addition to ethnographic objects, contemporary works of art, documents in Aleutian language and a didactic exhibition to know more about the social and cultural life of this people.
