One of Alaska's most beautiful campsites, with picnic area and spectacular views of Lake Mendenhall and icebergs.
Beautiful campground, one of the most beautiful in Alaska, with its view of Mendenhall Lake and the icebergs breaking off the glacier. The pitches (70 of which 18 with electricity and 7 accessible only on foot), are spread out in the forest and along the banks of the lake. Reservations are recommended. A picnic area is available on site. This campsite is very popular for its spectacular views and abundant wildlife.

Ne pas hésiter à aller faire le West Glacier Trail (7 km aller), au bout de la route du camping (Montana Creek Road) qui offre les meilleurs points de vue sur le glacier (mieux que toutes les randonnées accessibles depuis le visitor center).
Seul inconvénient: l'accès, quand on n'est pas motorisé ; même si les bus n°3 et 4 permettent de s'en rapprocher (arrêt à 20 minutes de marche)
