SITKA LUTHERAN CHURCH
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sitka with artifacts dating back to 1844.
This Evangelical Lutheran church, built in 1840, is the oldest Evangelical Lutheran church on the West Coast of North America. Among other things, it contains objects dating back to 1844, such as the organ, lectern and candlestick. These were saved from the flames in 1966 when a fire destroyed the church. The church was then rebuilt exactly as it was and there are also beautiful icons. It is possible to attend masses on Sundays or just visit this historic church, which is still in working order.
