Since 2017, the powerful Toptani family, which ruled Tirana from the 17th to the 19th century, has given its name to a huge, futuristic shopping mall in the heart of the city. The white building designed by Dutch architect Winy Maas houses around a hundred stores on eight levels, including international clothing and footwear brands (same prices as elsewhere in Europe), jewellers, opticians, telephony, a pharmacy and more. Plus cafés, restaurants, banks and underground parking.
