Orthodox cathedral inaugurated in June 2012. Seat of the Archdiocese of Tirana and of the entire Orthodox Church of Albania.

Consecrated in 2012, this Orthodox cathedral (Katedralja Ngjallja e Krishtit), designed by a firm of New York architects, is a little flashy. Circular in shape, it is topped by a 46-metre-high bell tower and a 26-metre-diameter, 23-metre-high dome. Inside, the dome is covered with a giant mosaic of Christ. The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishopric of Tirana and of the entire Orthodox Church of Albania.

Pas si mal que ça avec sa touche architecturale moderne, pourtant j'ai ai vu pas mal durant mes voyages, mais celle ci est remarquable de par sa situation (bien dégagée) et son accès par un bel escalier. un clocher juste à côté avec un carillon de beaux sons. Son intérieur est majestueux, superbe décoration et un choeur de toute beauté. C'est ouvert à tout public sans restriction vestimentaire (tenue correcte).

Peu conventionnelle et très lumineuse, cette cathédrale orthodoxe reste intéressante. Malheureusement elle est très mal mise en valeur voire dénaturée par les 4 immeubles tours qui la jouxtent.
