Office of the Albanian Prime Minister. Former Italian army headquarters. Bas-relief added in 1974.
This is the Albanian "Prime Minister's Office". This building on Boulevard des Martyrs-de-la-Nation was erected in 1939 by architect Gherardo Bosio to serve as headquarters for the Italian army in Albania. The three-storey facade retains the functionalist look typical of Fascist architecture. In 1974, the Communist regime added a huge bas-relief representing the Albanian people, the work of four sculptors including Kristaq Rama (1932-1998), father of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has occupied the building since 2012.
