This "ring" is the 7.4 km-long ring road that encircles the city center around Skanderbeg Square. Designed by Italian urban planners in the 1930s, it comprises several boulevards and main streets. In its southern part, the Unaza runs alongside the Lana with the boulevards Gjergj-Fishta and Jeanne-d'Arc (Bulevardi Zhan d'Ark). Until 2010, the latter was named after French Communist deputy Marcel Cachin (1869-1958), founder of L'Humanité, the newspaper for which Enver Hoxha worked during his stay in France between 1933 and 1936.
