TÉLÉPHÉRIQUE DAJTI EKSPRES
The country's only cable car between Tirana (Porcelani district) and Mount Dajti National Park. Arrival at an altitude of 1,033 m.
The country's only aerial cableway (Teleferiku Dajti Ekspres) provides access to the heart of Mount Dajti National Park, at an altitude of 1,033 m, from Porcelani, Tirana's eastern district 828 m below. The 4,354 m-long ropeway was installed in 2005 by the Austrian company Doppelmayr. The twenty-five eight-seater cabins take around 16 minutes to complete the journey. On the way up, you pass over the lake and village of Linza, then the ruins of the abandoned hamlet of Shërmina. Around the top station, the Dajti Ekspres company has a tourist complex with hotel, restaurant, miniature golf course, roller-skating rink, playground and rope course. This is also where the SH 47 road ends, leading from the suburbs to the south-east of Tirana. There are also two take-off platforms where the Sky Sports agency (skysports.al) offers tandem paragliding descents. All this has been set up on the site of a former Communist-era vacation camp, of which the empty building opposite the arrival station remains. The cable car departure station is next to Bunk'Art 1. Access is easy by bus: board the blue buses of line no. 11 (Qendër-Porcelani), which leave from the Clock Tower (next to Skanderbeg Square), and get off at the terminus, 400 m from the departure station. The Dajti Ekspres company even offers free shuttle buses for this last stretch.
