ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM IN KRUJA
The country's largest ethnographic collection, housed in a beautiful Ottoman house within the Kruja citadel.
This museum (Muzeu Etnografik në Krujë) is housed in a superb tchardak, a typical Ottoman Balkan house identifiable by its exposed framework. Built in 1764, it belonged to the Toptani family, one of the richest Albanian families. Since 1989, it has housed the most important ethnographic collection of the country with everyday objects from the 18th and 19th centuries. On the first floor, there are old private apartments and beautiful traditional costumes from different regions.
