BRIDGE OF MES
Dating from 1768, it is the largest Ottoman bridge in Albania: 108 m long, over thirteen arches, spanning the River Kir.
Supported by thirteen arches, this Ottoman bridge over the Kir (Ura e Messit) is the longest in Albania: 108 m long. While other structures in the country bear the same name ("Middle Bridge"), this one is the most famous. Dating from 1768, it enjoys a delightful natural setting. It was built on the orders of Mehmet Pacha Bushati, governor of the Shkodra pashalik (1768-1775) and a member of the Bushati family, which also built the Lead Mosque. It stands on the old road linking Shkodra to the medieval citadel of Drisht (7 km to the northeast).
