VENICE ART MASK
Museum-store of one of Europe's leading manufacturers of carnival masks. Most of the production goes to Venice.
The workshop exports between 20,000 and 30,000 carnival masks every year, 70% of them to Venice. It was founded in 1997 by Edmond Angoni, a local entrepreneur born in 1956 who had previously worked in Italy. It employs around fifty people who hand-decorate simple or fanciful masks in a 15-step process. Some pieces are used in films, such as the wolf worn by Tom Cruise in Eyes Wide Shut (1999). The finest examples are on display in the adjoining museum-shop, where you can even buy them.
