VILLA D'AHMET ZOGU
Villa built by King Zog from 1937 to 1939 on a hill overlooking the town center. Renovated in 2007, it now hosts receptions and weddings.
This former royal villa (Vila e Ahmet Zogut) is located on a hill overlooking the city center. It was built between 1926 and 1937 and briefly served as the summer residence of Ahmet Zogu, who ruled the country as King Zog I until the Italian invasion of 1939. The communist regime then used it as a temporary seat of government, and later to receive distinguished foreign guests. Looted during the civil war of 1997, it was renovated in 2007 by Leka Zogu (1939-2011), Ahmet's son. Since then it has been used for receptions and weddings.
