TOUR VÉNITIENNE
Built by the Venetians on the basis of a Byzantine tower, incorporating remnants of ancient monuments. A good landmark.
This tower of 16 m height and 9 m diameter (Torra Veneciane) is the most visible part of the ancient fortifications with the walls of Anastas-Durrsaku street. Erected by the Venetians in the 15th century on the basis of a Byzantine tower, it incorporates replacements of ancient monuments. Next to it is the statue of Mujo Ulqinaku (1979), a naval sergeant who died at the age of 45 defending Durrës on the first day of the Italian invasion, April 7, 1939. On the nearby traffic circle stands the ugly statue of Redon (2019), Illyrian sea god.
