PONT SUSPENDU DE BERAT
This pedestrian bridge is a convenient way to cross the Osum between the beautiful listed districts of Mangalem and Gorica.
This metal pedestrian bridge is known as the "suspension bridge" (Ura e Varur) or "new bridge" (Ura e Re). With a length of 100 m and supported by two pairs of pylons, it is very convenient to cross the Osum between the two historical districts of Mangalem and Gorica. Completed in 2002, it took fourteen years to build. The original plan was to build a car bridge to divert traffic from the Gorica Bridge, which was in danger of collapsing. In the meantime, a new road bridge was built downstream of the Gorica bridge.
