World War II partisan cemetery. Statue of partisan with raised arm (1969), beautiful views over the Korça plain.
The Partisan Cemetery (Varrezat e Dëshmorëve) is located on a hill in the Morava massif, at an altitude of 2,042 meters. It is dominated by a statue of a partisan with his arm raised, dating from 1969 and bearing the inscription "Gloire aux martyrs du ciel" ("Glory to the martyrs of heaven"). Although the number of graves is impressive, the Communist regime greatly exaggerated the number of partisans who died in the region between 1939 and 1944. Researchers now estimate their number at around 220.
