MAISON D'EQREM VLORA
Large white villa belonging to Eqrem Vlora (1885-1964), one of the signatories of the 1912 Declaration of Independence.
This 19th century white house (Shtëpia e Eqrem Bej Vlorës) belonged to Eqrem Vlora (1885-1964). He was a member of the richest family in Vlora and nephew of Ismail Qemali, who was one of the 83 signatories of the 1912 declaration of independence. A politician, writer and diplomat, he was a minister in the collaboration governments (1939-1944) and ended his life in exile in Austria. Transformed into a Palace of Culture during the communist period, the house was returned to the descendants of Eqrem Vlora in 1992 and renovated. It is sometimes open to visitors in summer.
