BOULEVARD ISMAIL-QEMALI
2.3 km long main road between Place du Drapeau and the port. Named after the first president of independent Albania, in 1912.
This major axis (Bulevardi Ismail Qemali) is named after Ismail Qemali (1844-1919), the country's first president in 1912. It stretches 2.3 km from north to south between Flag Square and the port. It is bordered on the north by the house of Eqrem Vlora and the Muradiye mosque. It then runs along the square Avni-Rustemi adorned with a statue of this militant (1895-1924) who distinguished himself by assassinating the dictator Essad Pasha in 1920. In the southern part of the boulevard are the Sports Palace and the stadium (to the east), then the University of Vlora (to the west).
