MONASTERY OF THE DORMITION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD
This Orthodox monastery is isolated on the small island of Zvërnec, accessible via a 200 m-long wooden footbridge.
This Orthodox monastery (Manastiri i Shën Mërisë) is isolated on the small pine-covered island of Zvërnec (9 ha), linked to the hamlet of Zvërnec by a 200 m-long wooden footbridge that winds through the Narta lagoon. Its 10th- or 13th-century church has been extensively remodeled and has lost its frescoes. In the courtyard is the tomb of a Vlora resident who, it is said, wove the Albanian flag hoisted at the declaration of independence on November 28, 1912.
