FORTRESS OF PORTO PALERMO
Triangular seaside fortress created by the Venetians in the 1500s. Flashlight recommended.
The creation of this fortress (Kalaja e Porto Palermos) is attributed to the formidable Ali Pasha in the early nineteenth century. But the story was rewritten during the communist period: it is in fact a Venetian construction from the 1500s. It is still in good condition and can be visited, ideally with a flashlight to explore its corners. Surrounded by lush vegetation, the building forms a triangle with defensive advances at the three points.
