MUSÉE ARCHÉOLOGIQUE DE BUTRINT
In an ancient medieval fort on Butrint's agora. Not much to see. But a splendid panorama outside.
Created in 1938, this small museum (Muzeu Arkeologjik i Butrintit) is located on the top of the Butrint hill, in the underground of a 13th century Byzantine fort reworked by the Angevins and Venetians. It houses mainly Greco-Roman objects discovered here in the 1920s and 1930s: statues, weapons, amphorae, oil lamps, coins, etc. A copy of the "Goddess of Butrint" - the original is in Tirana - is enthroned on the terrace from where one can enjoy a magnificent view.
