CENTRAL SQUARE AND CASTLE (ЖОВКIВСЬКИЙ ЖОВКIВСЬКИЙ)
The huge central square gives an idea of what should have become the city. The majestic castle dating back to the th century also includes a small local museum, representing the plans of the dream city. The original plan provided for a square construction with four towers in the corners. The castle reached his glory during the reign of Ian III who made one of his residences (1647). From 1740, Zhovkva became the property of the Magnates Magnates, the castle was reconstructed, but now it loses its defence function. Since the end of the th century, the castle has witnessed a period of abandonment that reaches its peak at the end of the Second World War when, in its court, houses are built. These buildings, completely dilapidated, were inhabited until little. Restructuring work is under way to return to the castle its aspect of royal residence. Next to the castle, you can see the city hall (th-century).
