HOUSEBOAT (КОРАБЕЛЬ-ДIМ)
Known in the local dialect like Schiffa, the "boat", this house is one of the city's visiting cards. Built at the end of the th century, it recalls a boat on both sides of which the streets flow as rivers. The house probably derives its name from its shape, but also from the famous tavern that was here in the th century, called "Under the Golden Boat". The construction of this house is also linked to a legend that in the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, two brothers lived here, the first was captain on a boat, the second was a businessman. When the captain retired, his brother helped him to buy land in Chernivsti. The capitane felt so much nostalgia for the sea that he decided to build a house in a boat shape.
