MARKET PLACE (РИНОК ПЛОЩА)
Created in the mid th century, the Market Square and the Ratousha, its main Construction, were always the heart of the city. Ratousha was built between 1843 and 1947 in late classical style. Every day, at noon, a musician comes out on the balcony of the Ratousha and plays the trumpet the melody of Maritchka, an old Ukrainian popular song. Not far away is the Fine Arts Museum. Formerly, here was the management of the bank of Bucovine. Built in 1900-1901, the building features a magnificent Art Nouveau facade in mosaics representing 12 ancient deities, which, according to some interpretations, symboliseraient the 12 provinces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In the museum you can discover a collection of bucovines rural paintings from the th century.
