LAURE DE POCHAIV (СВЯТО-СВЯТО ЛАВРА ЛАВРА)

Outpost of Russian orthodoxy in Kermanych, faced with neighbouring Galicia, more Greco-Catholic (uniate), the laure of the Holy Dormition-of-la-Mère-de-Dieu de Pochaiv is the second Orthodox centre in Ukraine, after Kiev's Petchersk de Kyiv, but much less famous than her older sister. However, since 1833, the monastery has also enjoyed the prestigious reputation of laure (lavradors), which distinguishes the most important Orthodox religious centres. In the Slavic Orthodox world, the title is allocated only to 5 monasteries: La Laure de La Trinité Saint-Serge of Sergei-Possad near Moscow, Kyiv Laure, Alexandre Laure Laure de Saint-Petersburg, Laure de Pochaiv in Western Ukraine and finally Laure de Sviatogirsk in Donetsk region in Eastern Ukraine. Laure De attracts few tourists, if not some curious ones who make a detour on their route from Kiev to Lviv. The groups of pilgrims are many, which come from many often, hundreds in religious festivals, Ukraine or Russia. The entrance is free, the main churches are all open; but no tourist visits are proposed, and for explanations, Anglophone resources are locally scarce. It is not reported, but the wearing of a hair-dyeing veil and a large falling skirt is compulsory for women as soon as it comes into the field of laure. At the entrance porch, poorly equipped tourists are therefore at risk of a great deal of inquiry by the sanctuary's guardians, which then happily lend them sails and large sleeves to cover jeans, shorts or short skirt. This is not mentioned either, but within churches, respect for the contemplation - and monitoring of the faithful - invites not to pull the camera out of its bag, if not in the most discreet way.
